Meetings, rallies in Dhaka banned from Sunday

Dhaka: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has put restriction on all sorts of meetings, rallies and gatherings in Dhaka.

The restriction, which will come into effect from 06:00am Sunday, will remain effective until issuance of further notice.

This came as a notice signed by DMP commissioner Benzir Ahmed was issued Saturday.

DMP put the restriction in view of 25 October rallies announced by both Awami League and Bangladesh Nationalist Party, the notice read.

Both AL and BNP have announced to hold rallies in Dhaka on 25 October. The announcement has already created panic among people.

Meanwhile, a delegation of BNP has sought permission for the rally from DMP. The restriction followed that move.
